it's all over for the mighty Newcastle Brown Ale...

Now to be brewed in Yorkshire. Is nothing sacred?
In other news, it was confirmed today after an extremely thorough eye exam that I don't actually need glasses, despite what the optician I saw last week said. The fucking charlatan.

They can be very stylish but are just another bloody expense.

it's still going to be made by incomprehensible northerners with questionable hygiene standards. You won't be able to tell the difference :P

is foul stuff that is drunk by simpleton Highland & Islanders (the kind of people who make The Wicker Man look like a documentary). Irn-Bru is the proper national drink.

EDIT: Not overly keen on them but nothing against them per se. But then I am a half-breed.

I taught the barmaid to serve me "a bottle of dog". She couldn't handle my accent though. I had to keep pointing and shouting DOG!

Boddington supposedly hasn't tasted the same since it was moved out of Manchester
Old Speckled Hen, Riddley's Old Bob, Ruddles' Best and countless others haven't tasted the same since Gr**ne K*ng bought them out.
And, whilst they've done a good job with the takeover overall, I do maintain that Gales' HSB isn't quite as good as it used to be since Fuller's bought them.
Interesting question, though - does Toon have any other breweries? I can think of loads in Yorkshire, Manchester, Liverpool, and at least one in Durham, but don't think I know anything from Newcastle besides the Dog.

But not much else. High House Farm Brewery does some good ales, as do Mordue, Big Lamp, Northumberland and a few others. Bigger breweries like The Federation got taken over by S&N a while back. Vaux went tits up ages ago.

I quite like some of their stuff. At least, the rare times I see it down South. Unfortunately it most often crops up in Wetherspoons pubs where they don't know how to cellar it properly and so it tastes of egg.

it's been brewed in Gateshead (not quite newcastle) for a few years now.
