While I don't want to jinx myself too badly I think it went very well. I was supposed to be interviewed by the Technical Director but unfortunately she'd had a home emergency so I was interviewed by her via speakerphone and the CEO of the company in person.
The CEO laid out the company history and philosophy followed by some best/worst project type questions from the TD before the CEO finished off with some questions about my CV where I managed to successfully explain the questionable areas of my recent history. Then a bit of money talk and a promise of a second interview ASAP next week with the TD in person and the CTO so I'm really hopeful right now.
Much as I know that this is somewhere where we all come to escape from the doldrums of life I'd really appreciate any spare karma you could send my way as this sounds like the job for me and $Deity knows I need it!

Just now I signed and returned the contract for my next job, which I happened upon only because I dared to answer an obscure management question during an IT seminar. After just one phone call and one face-to-face interview I've landed a promotion to a totally new role for which I have no prior experience, all during a global recession. It starts the day after I leave my current job, which means my (substantial) redundancy payout can now be repurposed for more interesting things instead of the financial buffer between jobs it would have otherwise become. All in all, woo, yay and houpla.
If that isn't lucky, I don't know what is. Hopefully some of that pixie dust rubs off on you too :-)
To everyone who hasn't yet found a job after being laid off, I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging but I can't quite believe my luck. Keep your chins up and persevere, sometimes fortune smiles on the brave. Dunkirk spirit and all that.

My brother is currently between jobs, although a mate has given him some temp work until christmas.
Anyone need a CAD technician / civil engineer with railway and event planning experience?

and congrats CC, it does me good to hear a success story!
Don't spend the payout all at once, unless it's on me of course! ;-)
