I've had a few 'detox weeks' in my time
and was relieved to feel not one bit better, so I went 'retox' and have stayed there ever since.

I applaud your strength of character and willpower though. That alone must feel pretty darned dood?

Like, totally, dood.

You daft bugger.
You always feel worse for a while before you feel better when giving up bad shit.

Psychosomatic?

sometimes 'real life' is so genuinely shit
that something of a foggy shroud around your feelings is protective. Facing the reality of your dismal existence is not always of any help whatosever.

You're just prolonging the inevitable.
I've been there. I spent a period of my life numb to everything by taking copious amounts of amphetamines. It achieved nothing because my problems were still there when I stopped taking it.

Your just not ready and I acknowledge that and don't judge.

Amphetamines are really nasty,
particularly over long periods of time. I've seen them destroy people from the inside, leaving them a gaunt husk of their former selves.

You don't need to tell me.
But I did have a very clean house.

Right
that's 5 weeks without booze. When are the good times gonna roll?
(, Mon 23 Nov 2009, 10:37, Reply)
Yeah, Biggie - WHEN?

(, Mon 23 Nov 2009, 10:41, Reply)
Yeah it has been getting easier though
I am surprised that after drinknig nearly every Friday and Saturday night for the last 7 years or so that I'm not suffering any real withdrawal symptoms. Feel really bored on the Saturday night and really tempted when my friends have a go about coming out, but all in all it's been quite rewarding..
(, Mon 23 Nov 2009, 10:37, Reply)
It's the boredom I can't face.
I like reading and whatnot but not every fucking night, and without exception every one of my pals is a caner, so it's 'stay in on my own' or 'intoxication' for me...
(, Mon 23 Nov 2009, 10:43, Reply)
Irvine Welsh's solution..
was a Blockbuster membership and junk food. Alwaysa good way to burn a couple of key hours on Saturday evening...

If you get fat then your ex won't want to get you into bed.
Problem solved.

Ha!

*ponders*
Is that REALLY better, though? It's not much healthier and you end up reclusive.
(, Mon 23 Nov 2009, 10:55, Reply)
Just for the danger days though when you're close to breaking
Generally during my week I'm pretty active and have plenty to do. Just that Friday/Saturday nights when I'm at risk and need to pull out a trump card.. It's certainly cheaper!
