they're headlining friday which is arguably the lowest of the headline days. Which means there's a chance that saturday and sundays headliners will be even "bigger"

the article has it right. they have been far from their best for at least 15 years

they're still by most measures a big name band.

no doubt about it.
it's the repeated assurances that they are the biggest band in the world every time they are mentioned, coupled with their mediocre music (it's not actually bad, it's average), the glowing reviews they get from most music press, despite the mediocrity and their annoying political/environmental agenda

I don't care what some idiot journalist thinks about music.
see the quotes on the tv ads and in papers and stuff though

it means that either a) they don't know about music, b) they don't listen to the stuff they review or c) they are sucking U2s's cocks.
and despite not caring what they say, people being shit at their job, either by being stupid, or deliberately, is annoying

but that's not the point, the inability of some on here to realise that people can listen to the same piece of music and have totally conflicting ideas about the quality is pretty fucking autism.

it's the level of hype that makes this a (smallish) issue for me.
I can recognise good song writing and such, even if I don't like the music itself, and I think that U2s recent stuff is as amateurish as a lot of stuff I hear from unsigned bands all the time.

I don't suppose the middle-of-the-road benders who attend Glasters these days would like them, but I would.
