Don't act soft...
You know very well because it's in your band's set-list.

His version has a wanky guitar solo in the middle
and he gurns so hard he dislocates his cheeks.

we don't do covers
our singer/guitarist has enough trouble remembering our own songs (which he has written almost all of) let alone other people's

my lot used to to do the Grange Hill theme as an encore
we couldn't remember anyone else's either. Although we did do Glorious Om Riff by Gong but that has no words. We frequently fucked it up, too.

Got any Hillage or Gong yet?

not yet, my memory has been shocking recently.

In fact, I only just remember that I'm seeing Seth Lakeman tonight.

You mentioned this chappie the other day
What's his bag? Would I like him?

it's modern folk stuff, but on proper old school folk subjects
he's a young chap who lives on dartmoor, recorded his first album in his kitchen. had to turn the fridge off while recording each take.

He plays a mean fiddle, some weird 4 stringed guitar thing, and sings well

I think he's awesome, particularly live

I like folk provided it isn't twee
Being a history buff I think the old traditional songs are a superb - they're a direct source of the voices of normal people, who aren't usually represented in history books. My grandfather was a renowned expert on Scottish folk songs, and as such was the editor of The Oxford Book of Ballads.
