I like to cook
This year for Christmas dinner I am doing a carvery with Turkey, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Venison.

There will be just 8 off us and one will be my 22 month old daughter.

How will you be going OTT this Christmas? Also Rob Steadman is a cunt.

I'm cooking a turkey for 12 on sunday,
I don't know if I should put it in brine or not.

I hate turkey
I'm chucking a nut roast in. Not for Veggies they can fuck off and aren't invited, but for me because I like it as a side dish. I should do some starters too!

I like nut roast as a side dish
my aunt makes this good thing with nuts, cheese and marmite in it. some kind of loaf thing.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 10:54, Reply)
I'd be interested in a recipe for that if you get a chance.

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:16, Reply)
very rare that I see my aunt unfortunately
I'm sure she got it from somewhere though, so might be able to find something online. or failing that, I'll reverse engineer it from my memories of the taste.

might actually be in the marmite cookbook

Good call.

I've never heard of putting one in brine
why would you do that?
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 10:53, Reply)
It's meant to be good,
stops it drying out and stuff. Nigella thinks it's good. It's not just salt water though it's got herbs and fruit and stuff in as well.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 10:55, Reply)
Sounds good actually
And if Nigella thinks its good it must be!
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 10:59, Reply)
Takes 2 days though.
I'll give it a bash, what's the worst that can happen?
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:03, Reply)
nothing can go wrong
let us know how it turns out.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:04, Reply)
that does sound good
if it's for that many people it's got to be a pretty big turkey, so might be worth a try
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:02, Reply)
That's the problem,
it's going to be a massive turkey and so I'm going to have to find a massive bucket.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:04, Reply)
Just use ym's minge.

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:14, Reply)
bath tub?
get a hippo tub from b&q or the range (if they have them there) or something. that'll probably be best
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:16, Reply)
I think my idea is better.

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:17, Reply)
I'm thinking double bagged bin liners.

(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:23, Reply)
it'd work
but might be a bit risky

might impart a bit of a flavour to it as well, which you wouldn't want
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:27, Reply)
You can buy mega-massive ziploc bags for just this purpose I believe
Not seen 'em in shops, but you should be able to get them online in time for chrimbo.

Where's TGB when you need her?
Edit: damned real life getting in the way of the submit button.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:17, Reply)
We'll be only 5 this year
So we won't have to cook too much. Something typical, like salmon and a lot of seafood.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 10:53, Reply)
Probably
I'm off to mothers for the 1st time in aboot 7years :0)

Mum & Dad are rather excited as they'll have all the grandkids on Christmas Day for the 1st time ever

that food your 22 month old daughter
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:05, Reply)
Shes a little flirt
She'd only be interested in him for 30 seconds and then move on.

Mind you 30 seconds might be enough for him.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:29, Reply)
Don't worry about that
It's your missus I'm more interested in!
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 11:42, Reply)
You're welcome to her
the pretty ones are always crazy.
(, Thu 10 Dec 2009, 12:01, Reply)
That explains Spike's then!
