So after a note in an earlier thread
I watched "Bring It On". It was a slightly weird experience as it included every teen-comedy-parody cliche, except for real played entirely seriously.

So, what films have you watched recently?

Oh god, don't get me started.
Now that I'm single, I've spent every fucking night watching the Lifetime Movie Network, and it's all made for TV films and they're all awful chick flicks and I hate chick flicks. But that's what I've been watching.

Evening.
Not doing great, as I'm going to be spending Christmas alone. His daughter is more mentalist than I am, but she'll get her comeuppance (probably tomorrow night, she's having a b'day party and she'll have underage people drinking and the cops just might show up!)

On the plus side, I don't have to buy any Christmas presents!

Thanks, dear,

I'll probably hop up to San Francisco for a couple of days r&r in a hotel somewhere.

pamper thyself! a bit of luxury can do wonders ;-)
there was an Armenian barber i used to go to in Liverpool sometimes when i was hungover or just simply depressed.
four quid spent on a proper hot wet shave and trim.

He got arrested!
He followed me home twice but I couldn't be arsed with the police. THEN, he actually started stalking this nice married Chinese lady who works in my library, and kept following some other girl along the road shouting at her. When the police came to the library, he said "I have a fetish for small ladies with short dark hair. I like beautiful things. It is fair."

I only saw him once after that. Oh man he was so small and funny and then scary.

He was a fucking good barber though.

i watched mickey rourke's "the wrestler" recently.
Superfantastische!
one of the most engaging films i have seen in the last ten years.
mind you i never get to teh cinema these days (twice in last 3 1/2 yrs?) and the only tv i watch is freeview so we're talking film4, tesco, itv4, gig-stick off Gronzo, bbc's 2&1 but not much else. for fillums, that is.
and buying dvd's online, of course.

Really?
I honestly thought it was very forgettable, the wrestling scenes were lame and the ending was more comedic than heartbreaking.

Last watched Antichrist, beautifully horrific ultra slow motion, black and white intro, with a tasteful 'full penetration' scene, quite something for in the cinema. Got a bit hokey in parts, but overall, very effective.

not seen it so can't comment.
but i'll say this, if a film is made or broken by a single scene then it's a strong scene or vice-versa.
i must confess that i still have not seen the last 20 minutes of wrestler, the confines that parenthood place upon one...
that notwithstanding i found rourke's performance convincing to the max. he is actually a man who knows first hand what it is like to take a battering.
not saying that makes him a great actor!
the wrestling scenes? imagine if you will a group of 20/30/40 yr old blokes who do that for a living. you reckon they're gonna knock their pans in every night?

Noooooooo!
I've seen Antichrist, and it was good, but there were bits niether myself nor my even-less-squeemish-professioal-bouncer girlfriend both had to hide behind our hands from, and I should qualify this by saying I've never done that befor since I reached puberty. Also niether of us fancied sex for a week.

like I say, good film, but what is seen cannt be unseen.
