How can anything that eats it's own poo win a contest.
Unless it's a poo eating contest of course.

Does anybody know if cat slobber is harmful to human eyes?
Thanks.

Cats can do all those things
but they choose not to.

It's a bit crap though
The categories are fairly arbitrary. It's like saying a JCB is better than a Ferrari because it can travel over rough ground, carry a bigger load and is less likely to be pinched for export to the middle east.
(, Tue 15 Dec 2009, 9:26, Reply)
they're also better than Ferraris in that by owning a JCB
you aren't screaming to the world that you have a micropenis.

Dogs Win
...but only by 6 - 5 so it's not an outright, landslide win for the dogs.

Categories used for deciding the relative merits of the mammals in question were:

Brains (Cat win)
Shared history (Dog win)
Bonding (Dog win)
Popularity (Cat win)
Understanding (Dog win)
Problem solving (Dog win)
Vocalisation (Cat win)
Tractability (Dog win)
Supersenses (Cat win)
Eco-Friendliness (Cat win)
Utility (Dog win)

If anyone's got a copy of NS (I've got a copy in front of me) it's on pages 32-37 of the December12th 2009 issue. Warning, however, there's a picture of a chap who looks suspiciously like Ed Balls in a state of semi-nakedness with a cat on p37.

A cat may have more cells in its brain
but I really can't believe anyone could think a cat is smarter than most dogs. They may have well developed brains but they are the well developed brains of someone who has taken hundreds of hits of really good acid and totally burned out all of his synapses. (I have seen cats do really bizarre things such as sitting and staring at a corner for long periods of time or running full speed head first into a wall while chasing the little light from a laser pointer, etc, that if occurred in humans could only be explained by much too much drug use.)
