The story goes...
he took it from 'Bonavox', a hearing aid shop next to a key cutters shop called 'The Edge' in Fairview in North Dublin. The Edge sign is still there but the Bonavox shop is gone. There's a Centra there now and a bank. It's just down the road from the school they and I (some years later) attended.

There was still a rake of teachers there who taught them when I was there - they all had stories. Bono was always a knobend.

The Virgin Prunes (friends of U2 at the start) were a brilliant band and should have been massive instead of these....these....

on the topic of rubbish Irish bands,
a mate of mine reckons he is personally responsible for the demise of The Golden Horde (not Genghis Khans army) cos he threw a bottle at Simon Carmody when they were a support act.

funny you should say that
one of my mates uncles was a teacher there. He's a sound man. He stays in touch with a lot of past pupils including us and them boys who he would have seen play in their youth. Unfortunately, he's just not the bottle-chucking type.
