But bono didn't fall off the roof and die?
Way to build me up and then knock me down
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 12:38, Reply)
I was about to have a 'power-wank' at the very thought of that, too.
*zips up, forlornly*
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 12:40, Reply)
Are you talking about Bret Heart's brother?

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 13:01, Reply)
I can't work out which is the song I hate most.
Despite having to sit through THREE DAYS AND MULTIPLE PLAYS of Vertigo when we were doing student conferences, I still have a special place in my colon for Beautiful Day.

Oh I forgot about Elevation
I don't mind their first two albums either.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 12:52, Reply)
Some of their stuff is ok
but bono whinning about having too much money or whatever it is he sings about pisses me off.

Ha!

I think Chompy is right
I think that's their worst one, although 'where the streets have no name' has some of the most excruciating teenage poetry style lyrics I think I've ever heard.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 13:09, Reply)
Pride (in the name of love)
...is truly vile and in my opinion the biggest turd in the steaming great repertoire of poo that is their back catalogue.

Fuckers.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 14:09, Reply)
Sorry, you are right.

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 14:31, Reply)
And...
...The Pet Shop Boys did 'Where the Streets...' way better.

because of Vertigo
U2 should be sentenced to death for crimes against humanity

I have to admit that my opinion of Bono has changed over the years.
When I first became aware of his existence, I thought he was just another pointless twat.
However, I am now certain that he has transcended the very limits of hypocrisy, greed and talentlessness to to the point that now, finally, I must be awarded the super-powers* I so richly deserve in order to wipe him from existence.

*Please note: super-powers may be used for evil as well as good.

My mind starts to cave in
at the mere thought of two teenage paddies deciding to call each other 'Bono Vox' and 'The Edge'.

'Good voice' in fucking Latin? You pompous, deluded bog-trotting cunt. This is clear evidence that he has ALWAYS been a cunt, rather than having become one as a result of massive wholly unmerited success.

'Great riff dere, De Edge'

'Tanks. Goes brilliantly with your excellent lyrics, Bono Vox'
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 13:35, Reply)
is that where his name comes from?
my hatred has risen to unprecedented levels

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 13:37, Reply)
S'true...
...and 'The Edge' is Latin for 'over-rated cunt'.

Top 100 in the best guitarists ever list? Aaaaaaaaarrrghhh!

*Starts trashing office*
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 14:13, Reply)
unbelievable isn't it?
I personally know several better guitarists than that twat
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 14:23, Reply)
Best 'smoke and mirrors with effects pedals'
perhaps.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 14:32, Reply)
The story goes...
he took it from 'Bonavox', a hearing aid shop next to a key cutters shop called 'The Edge' in Fairview in North Dublin. The Edge sign is still there but the Bonavox shop is gone. There's a Centra there now and a bank. It's just down the road from the school they and I (some years later) attended.

There was still a rake of teachers there who taught them when I was there - they all had stories. Bono was always a knobend.

rafter
baz
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 14:20, Reply)
but that would make him 'Bona'.
Actually seeing as he is without doubt a colossal boner that would be more than apt...

On the other hand -
The Virgin Prunes (friends of U2 at the start) were a brilliant band and should have been massive instead of these....these....

....arrrrrggghhhhhhh......
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 14:57, Reply)
on the topic of rubbish Irish bands,
a mate of mine reckons he is personally responsible for the demise of The Golden Horde (not Genghis Khans army) cos he threw a bottle at Simon Carmody when they were a support act.
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:09, Reply)
Shame your mate wasn't at an early U2 show.

(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 16:15, Reply)
funny you should say that
one of my mates uncles was a teacher there. He's a sound man. He stays in touch with a lot of past pupils including us and them boys who he would have seen play in their youth. Unfortunately, he's just not the bottle-chucking type.
