I saw
and excellent programme over the weekend about the Nazis that escaped to Argentina at the end of the war, and another about the Taj Mahal, but I don't suppose this is the sort of tip you are after.

I saw 5 minutes of Glee: and it was utter, utter gay shit.

I was most suprised to find Gordon 'fucking' Ramsay's Indian series to be superb. He was quite humble and got stuck in, and slightly redeemed himself in my eyes. It was also quite informative.

Did any Nazis go to Peru?

I think there were Nazis all over South America
Interestingly, Stalin accused the west of harbouring Hitler and maintained this until his death. When he (Hitler) couldn't be found at the end of the war there was a massive international hoo-hah (that's the technical term for it) because for ages no-one could find the body.

The parallels to the Jill Dando case were remarkable - although in this instance no halfwit who simply happened to live near Hitler's bunker was fitted up for it.

I watched a program about Dark Side of the Moon last night
very interesting, especially the size of Roger Waters' nose.

I wonder if that's where the idea for the LP came from
They all went outside one night, and Waters' gargantuan conk blocked out the moon...

could be
pretensions and song meaning etc. aside, there is some fantastic music on that album. Rick Wright really had some talent.

The odd thing I find with them is that they are all so middle class. seems unusual.

My mate's mum went out with him at art school
He was a nice guy I am told.

he always came across as such
in fact, they all do/did apart from waters who came across as a bit of a knobhead.

As far as I can see this is correct.
We've had this chat before but I was amazed at how decent a guy Gilmour is. I always had him pegged as a usurper but the work he put into Barrett's solo stuff simply to help out an old mate was really touching. All the music behind Barrett's acoustic ramblings on his solo LPs was added afterwards under the aegis of Gilmour. They had nightmares because it's all out of time.

Brilliant, brilliant records though.

some of gilmore's solo stuff is worth checking out
his 78 (I think) solo effort had some gems on it, and the Live in Gdansk performance is out of this world.

His guitar-gurning makes me feel better about my own as well.

I was unaware that he helped out with Barrett's stuff, what a nice chap.

One of the interesting things they were saying last night is that after Dark Side was so successful they were like "what next? we're rich and famous, that's the dream, now what?"

the answer is clearly: drugs, and more drugs!

this is where my band would fall apart.

The thing is
you can still do that even if you got nowhere - just look at Winchester's premier psychedelic funk band 'Electric Head Funk'...
(, Mon 1 Feb 2010, 14:20, Reply)
that is true
two of my band claimed to be giving up pot this year

needless to say they have collapsed under the relentless toking schedule set by our singer and I at band practices.

I fucking love that name. can't beat a good band name. At some point I intend to form a heavy metal folk band called the Crackhouse Ceilidh Band (if she lets me).

I've got a job lot of documentaries already that I still haven't watched
I'm a little disappointed that you didn't like Glee, but I suppose it would have been a bit out of character for you to like something that a lot of others favour.
(, Mon 1 Feb 2010, 13:20, Reply)
I love Glee.
Watching those American football players dancing to Beyonce on the field was utterly brilliant.

That's slightly unfair Becky.
I don't dislike things BECAUSE they're popular - it's just rare that my tastes coincide with the masses.

EDIT actually that's kind of what you said isn't it?

Perhaps I am being a helmet (again)...

That's not what I actually meant, but you seem to have gotten the jist of it now, so all's well :)

I am, at times, a little slow on the uptake.
Please forgive me.

Yeah, I saw a few episodes of that as well
Kinda Louis Theroux meets Ready Steady Cook. I liked the bit where he was surfing from the back of the 2 ox. Some of the food looked superb, in fact I just had a brilliant curry for lunch. The Wee Curry House, as small as a small newsagents, sits about 12 people, kitchen right beside you. Everything cooked fresh, only £5.20 for 2 courses. Had to roll back to work.
