My workmates think I'm weird
but they're all painfully normal. I am a bit sad though. I make no excuses. Although I did take up DJing to try and convince people that I was cooler than I am.

Oh, and thanks for the info. Noted :-)

pfft, workmates don't count
mine are normal to the point of being weird. it's much more interesting not being like that.

That's my logic too
Makes it hard to get anyone to take you seriously though. The whole "They're not operating on the same level as me" thing is scant consolation when you're being passed over for promotion

I got round that by becoming an expert in something
so I can baffle people and am allowed some leeway as an eccentric
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:29, Reply)
That's genius
All I need is a job where ridiculously detailed knowledge of Red Dwarf, Ballroom Dancing, the music of Faith No More, or the films of the Coen Brothers is a prerequisite.

I didn't say it was something I enjoy!
hydraulic modelling is not one of my hobbies.
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:35, Reply)
Oh, it's a necessary evil
But if I can't find a job which revolves around one of my hobbies I'll have to learn something new. I can't be going learnin' new stuff at my age
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:37, Reply)
yeah, learning new stuff sucks

(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:38, Reply)
It pushes old stuff out of my brain
The problem with Ballroom is there's always new stuff to learn
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:40, Reply)
surely the problem with it is that despite dancing with a woman
it makes you look like a colossal bender?
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:44, Reply)
In my experience men get into Ballroom for one of three reasons
1 Their girlfriends make them (*raises hand*)
2 They're gay
3 To meet girls

Women who do Ballroom appreciate a man who's good at it. This is a very specific breed of woman, you understand. They're orange

it's ok
I've seen for myself how powerful it can be when pulling as well. my mate's brother and sister learned to jive (or similar), they would then go to clubs and dance, then rake in the talent
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:52, Reply)
Yep. Works like a charm
Every time we've ever done a Jive in a nightclub the place has come to a standstill around us. Probably more to do with Ms Foxtrot than myself, but yer average clubber is basically entranced by any degree of co-ordination
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 14:55, Reply)
I kind of wish I could dance
but don't want to have to go through the process of learning
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 15:00, Reply)
I only did cos my far-too-good-for-me girlfriend suggested it
and anything that encourages her to ignore the likes of Al and stick around is fine by me
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 15:02, Reply)
somehow, my mrs has got it into her head that I'm too good for her. fuck knows how she got that idea.
my prior experience with ballroom dancers was limited entirely to a weirdo in my office who does it. I can't even remember his name because my mate pointed out thathe looked like Clive Woodward, and that is how I know him. I have to try so hard not to call him Clive...
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 15:05, Reply)
Most Ballroom dancers are pretty minging
The fake tan doesn't help.

Just call him Clive. If he gets it, he'll laugh. If not, you'll laugh. At him. It's win-win
(, Thu 11 Mar 2010, 15:16, Reply)
he'd probably cry
apparently a while back he freaked out when one of the pool cars was messy. like properly freaked out, tears and everything. then didn't get it when someone got him a car cleaning kit as a secret santa present.

Christ
Yeah, leave that alone mate. My bad
