Help?
I'm trying to find a book price for a Land Rover Defender 90 TDi SWB K Reg 74000 Mileage. Most sites I've tried have been particularly unhelpful as the car is so old. Any ideas? It's for sale by sealed tender and I'm thinking of getting it for the boy for when he starts college.

You haven't seen unhelpful until you've posted this question on /talk

*Ironic grin*
Yeah I know, but I'm getting stuck for ideas. I will post it elsewhere when I get home. I have vague acquaintances who might know and I will be trying them later.

Before you buy that, check the insurance group & cost
"Boy" + "TDi" = £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

And the cost of oil as he'll probably need a lot of it.

Good point
also, a K-Reg is going to be a heap. What year is that anyway? 1993? I sat my GCSEs in 1993 and i'm old and knackered.

Normally I wouldn't touch something that old with yours. ; )
However, the mileage is real and the thing has only been used to tootle around an Agricultural College site. It has been regularly serviced and so may be a bit of a bargain. I will check it out properly over easter.

That's a damn good idea. Why didn't I think of that?
Oh that's right. I'm at work and I need to know NOW!!!!!(Spot the impatient bastard).
I'm ready for high insurance. Probably looking at about £2500 for anything of reasonable use.

Parkers is online as well, is it not?

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 10:00, Reply)
Yep, you can register on the Site to get details for old cars

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 10:02, Reply)
But he wants it now and he wants it free
hence cheap cunt.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 10:02, Reply)
What? Parkers on-line?
Off I go then. TBH though cheap cunt that I am I'd rather buy the book than register on-line. Much more practical.

I agree
It's not like you look for cars that often, so a standing subscription to Parkers Online is a bit pointless

Bollox.
Apparently Parkers ain't heard of Defenders.

Get him a cheap car to run and insure for a couple of years.
Just because he thinks you're ace doesn't mean you should pay that kind of wonga for him to get from A to B.

He'll need summat decent if he gets the place he's after.
It's a long run to Warwick and he's out in the sticks on an agricultural college site.
Plus once he's qualified he'll need summat like a landy for work and it's available now.
In the meantime he's on his ma's insurance and getting a NCB built up that way.
