It's the bit where she wonders she should work so hard when people get free money. I don't know how much she earns but I am certain it is in a different league to the £60ish a week basic Job seekers.
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:29, Reply)
I think you are probably right
her Mercedes agrees ;-)
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:33, Reply)
The problem is it's £60 x X

£60 may be a pitiful amount to live on, but if a person refuses work that they are physically capable of doing I don't see why they should reatin the rightvb to claim it. The Governments responsibilty is surely to help provide a basic quality of living, not support poeple until they find a job that they like?
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:34, Reply)
*gets on soapbox*
the problem as I see it is that most people are stupid, small-minded cunts. This is never going to go away. The system we have isn't great, but due to the nature of people no system is ever going to work well.

Because of this, I almost completely ignore it. Yes some of my taxes go towards paying for benefit cheats and lazy bastards, but if they didn't they'd only go to something else that probably wouldn't impact on my life.
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:38, Reply)
They don't retain the right to claim it,
you have to apply for jobs to claim jobseekers. If you don't they stop your payments.
I'm sure there are people who get round it but that's a problem with the checks not the actual way it works.

hey, no flirting with me behind my back
i am just opposed to the principle of anyone getting anything for nothing, is all. my friend has 6 nieces and nephews, all of them are aged between 19 and 26, all of them are bright enough and in great health, and all of them have been on the dole since leaving school. none of them has any intention of getting a job. why? why?? why do they think anyone wants to go to work just to give them cash for nothing? several of them also have children and council houses. if people like the rest of us didn't go to work, where do they think their £60 a week and flat would come from, heaven?! i'd have absolutely no problem whatsoever with topping up their salaries if they did something at a low wage, but i really resent them having free accommodation and cash for giving NOTHING back!
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:40, Reply)
you and I
and most people on here just can't get their head round that sort of thing. There's got to be a different mindset, and it's alien to us.
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:42, Reply)
I see and look at that in a totally different way.
How has society/education failed to give them a desire, opportunity and motivation to find work?
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:44, Reply)
because it makes it too easy for them not to
all 4 of their parents work hard and they went to decent enough schools, they just don't see why they should get off their arses to earn cash when they can get it for nothing. so they swop tips on how to fail interviews etc. it drives my friend insane (and their parents, ie her brother/sister for that matter). one of them was even told by the dole office that she would make more money not having a job now that she had a sprog...

It's pretty hard to argue against annecdotal evidence that I have no knowledge of.

(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:57, Reply)

and won't THERE IS NOTHING THAT WILL NOT GIVE YOU CANCER!!!
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 12:01, Reply)
it is with that attitude

(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:56, Reply)
Why does it have to be society and education taht has failed them?

Maybe the failed themselves by not taking advantage of one of the best education systems in the world
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:47, Reply)
If it's such a massive problem in this country
Then it can't just be problem with individuals.
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:50, Reply)
the problem is
that the welfare state assumes that people want to work. when in fact, there are too many people who are inherently lazy c*nts who will happily take a soft option. not that i am saying i am perfect, i am desperately lazy about many many things, it's just that work isn't one of them (in fact, work is probably the only one!).
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:58, Reply)
Laziness is not genetic.

(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 12:02, Reply)
To be paying £3k a month in tax
you'd need to be earning over £100k or so per annum.

Good luck to rswipe. I'd need that sort of salary to consider working in London.
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:46, Reply)
Seems ok, bar the last paragraph

(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:27, Reply)
Well yeah, you can say that the country is overcrowded when you live and work in london.
It doesn't seem so crowded anywhere outside the south east.

(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 11:29, Reply)
I have, it does pretty much every year.
We're up against Reading this year, if they beat us MK should become an independant state.

to keep you monkeys inside.

I'm glad I went to uni before digital cameras and facebook existed
I have had a weekend of heavy drinking and cunts (some of them close friends, but still cunts) pointing cameras/iPhones in my face. Back to work this morning and my inbox is full of "You have been tagged" messages.

You should be,
the amount of unpaid work you'd done for the local tourist board.

What ungrateful cunts they are. You should move somewhere where you're more appreciated.
