You put the water mellon laying down horizontally, cut a hole in the top (make sure you keep the piece you cut out), then pour some vodka in the hole.
Depending on the size of the hole, in about 6 hours, the vodka would be soaked through into the water-mellon, where you can fill it up again. An average size water mellon can take a bottle of vodka.

Once it's done, over the week or soo, put it in the fridge for a few hours, then serve.

If you're doing it in a country prone to insects, cover it with some sort of mesh.
