the problem is it's slowly creeping in
because people who wouldn't ordinarily use it hear it so often they start responding with the same. I said "so we're all on the same page" the other day and then inwardly slapped myself.

I pride myself on having never used any corporate bullshit speak since I started here.
I would willingly rip off my own testicles if I ever succumbed to such nonsense.

Ditto
However. I get the feeling that I'm treated with suspicion when I avoid using such terms in favour of proper sentences.

"Ach, I'll speak to XXX and see what the deal is. In the future I'll make sure we do that from the start."

"I will ping XXX an email and then touch base. Going forward this is a procedure that must be actioned prior to any decision."

There's a thesis in here somewhere.
Do the (aspiring) managing classes invent their own cockney? Is it to reasure themselves they have the biggest tribe? Is it to identify outsiders?

*Ponders*

I said that the other day!
I was talking about a script, though. And we all had a copy. And we were confused about where we were in the play.

I don't know if this excuses me.

haha literal jargon is ok
like if choir boys discuss whether or not they're all reading the same piece of music. Or if you work at a carnival on the duck range and you've had trouble with misaligned targets.

Oh God, yeah.
"We need to get our ducks lined up" is another one. Fuck's sake.

Is that really one?
Oh dear sweet lord Ronnie Corbett.

Yep.
Otherwise known as getting our story straight and singing from the same hymn sheet.

So at the St George's Day parade, when I run the Flag up the pole it's OK to see who salutes?

The other problem is that stupid people use it in order to try and sound intelligent

(, Fri 23 Apr 2010, 12:48, Reply)
I hate when people use 'yourself' and 'myself'
when talking on the phone, you and me is fine!!

And when people say "he and I" when it should be "me and him"; that's always thick people trying to sound intelligent, I get it all the time with clients.

But long words are more cleverer!
Someone once tried to sell me a suit whilst constantly referring to me as "yourself" and playfully slapping my arm. He's dead now. I still have the suit.

I think we need to sit down on this.
