Don't worry. This seems to be a natural thing.

It'll tie you down, cost you a fortune then die and leave you distraught. That's what dogs do. Or is it wives? I forget.

then put it in a dress. Funniest thing in the world to watch (I'm talking a human dress, not some sort of dog dress)

the dress thing as far as I know works on border collies. I cannot vouch for other dogs, but put a woollen knit dress on a border collie and it will go absolutely insane

A well trained dog is far more fun than one with an independent agenda.

If my parents had bothered to train their Jack russells properly at the beginning then they'd be fucking ace now.

Getting a dog to 'sit' when asked is easy, getting one to realise it plays second fiddle to the owner can be more difficult.

will definitely check it out, ta

Is part Lab and part Pitbull?
You'll either have the worlds most placid anti-fighting machine, or the worlds brightest killer.

I held her brother forever and he just sort of chilled out
I wanted him but someone else had already picked him out of the bunch

With the constant unspoken reminder that, much as you love her, she's still not her brother...

I must admit I'm a little jealous - I'd quite like a dog but I don't think I'd have the time or the patience to take care of one properly right now.
(, Tue 27 Apr 2010, 14:13, Reply)
plus I come home for my lunch break so she'd be alone for about 4 hours then with me for about 45 minutes then alone for 4 and with me for the rest of the night
I think that's sufficient, I know people who keep their dogs in a kennel at home for 8 hours or longer.
I'm taking this bitch everywhere I go.

She'll be fine.

I hate the idea of keeping her in a kennel or a crate, I think we're going to give her free range of the dining area, lots of toys and a big fluffly pillow
(, Tue 27 Apr 2010, 14:21, Reply)
I hope you have a big fuck off cage to keep her in.
My mates lab puppy ate through the bottom of the kitchen door and devastated the dining room.
Completely mental.

Btw! it's going to be expensive getting it spayed, injected etc.

I'm going to have to start saving up now to get her shit taken care of
(, Tue 27 Apr 2010, 14:10, Reply)
Seriously, the number of people who have a dog (or any pet really) and yet know absolutely sweet fuck all about them is dreadful.
Oh, and don't give it chocolate. Chocolate can do terrible damage to dogs.
(, Tue 27 Apr 2010, 14:10, Reply)
That will be one muthafucken strong hound. Labs are bad enough but add the pitbull in?
I see a chest harness and weightlifting in your future.

and if you must - get an acre of land for it, and make sure it is socialised to /with other dogs from day 1.
Also - don't get a dog.

My mother has a dog which is a small "yappee" thing, my father has a German shepherd. I know which I'd rather have.
