I like "dark" and "gritty" films
Batman Begins/Dark Knight benefit greatly from being dark and gritty, rather than "twee" and "nipply-batsuit".

Yes, but it's gotten to the point where fucking everything is described with those two adjectives.
Films like that are excellent, I just wish Hollywood would read a bloody thesaurus and get some new words.

Part of me thinks they should just abandon Christian Bale and re-cast Adam West, replete with the all the old sound effect screens depicting "POW!", "BAM!" "SHAZAM!", "SODOMISE!", etc.
