I've never been especially fat and despite the occasional hair disaster I've never been especially unnattractive (unless you listen to Al) but I still didn't get a girl to look twice at me til I was 17 and didn't shag anyone worth shagging til I was 22

Almost the opposite from my point of view.
I wasn't unattractive. So I got lead around by my willy most of my young life - in short, a bit of a waster.
I don't think I grew up until I met Mrs V, by when I was 36.
