I remember finishing reading Canticle for Leibowitz (which ends with a nuclear holocaust) before going to bed one night, and then subsequently dreaming about my own funeral.
Gig was really good fun - after having a chat with the others, it appears that the "house band" is not actually that formal. Apparently the guy who runs the jam asks one of the singers if they want to play the opening set and then picks a band for them. Nevertheless, very flattering to be chosen for such purposes and I had a good evening.
How's the revision going?

We discussed it in another thread, it's all about continuing to live through tragedy. Doesn't stop parts of it being really fucking miserable. It's a great album, though- only thing I listen to regularly with "blues" in the title :P
Oh wow that's great! Did you do ok?
Revision has not started yet, as I'm still a bit sleepy and need to wake up. Then off to the library. Maybe.

I think I did alright. Sounded good once the rest of the band had warmed up a bit and I got a few positive comments about my playing, which is always nice.
How's the waking up progressing?

The background to it
Good work that man. Do you think you will do it again?
Oh, and the waking up is not progressing at all. ARSE.

Whilst I like science fiction, I must admit I have limited patience with a lot of it. Leibowitz, I think, is probably one of the most original books that I've read that broadly fall into that genre. There was a sequel, but I've heard it's disappointing.

compared to the first. But taken alone it is still a genuinely excellent piece of work.
But the first one is really fantastic. I still have my dad's original copy somewhere
