There was a story on the BBC yesterday claiming that a federal court ruling in Germany had effectively legalised euthanasia
Deutsche Welle reported it as the legalisation of "passive assisted suicide" - whatever the hell that is.

It's neither of these things. The court simply said that an advance directive refusing life saving treatment is binding - a ruling that's only surprising inasmuch as that that wasn't clearly established before.
