I find that the best way to get through public speaking is to imagine the people you are addressing are naked. And rutting like wild boar.

Just try to keep your old chap restrained, eh?

In seriousness, I was terrified of doing my speech 'cos it involved feelings and stuff. But once I'd started they couldn't shut me up. Besides, there's no pressure on the groom, just thank her parents, say she looks beautiful, compliment the bridesmaids and toast absent friends, and then let the Best Man do all the hard work!

I've written it and I know all the sentiments are okay
it's just the physical act of talking out loud in public to a large group of people who are listening to me scares the shit out of me. I have the same problem using telephones.

the speech is the bit that worries me most. DiT's words seem sound though.

It's been part of a long-term plan to be just enough of a bastard that no one will ask me to be their best man.
