Enya and Crowded House
The former I had to endure a week of during my work experience on the record counter at WH Smiths in 1989. I hate Orinico Flow to the point where I'd quite happily have bludgeoned our stereo to death.

The latter's best of album was on loop constantly in my ex-g/f's (nee ex wife) bedroom for three months in 1998. I'm surprised it didn't provoke erectile dysfunction.

I don't agree on the New Order point though.

I really cannot understand the appeal.
Everyone loves New Order but to me they register a complete emotional flatline. I truly don't get it at all.

The early stuff is a continuation of the Joy Division emo theme.
Which fitted in with my teenage MO quite nicely.

The screaming disco queen in me loves Blue Monday and I quite enjoyed the raw jangliness of Confusion too. The latter is underrated. IMHO.

The Perfect Kiss is quite a good chill out track too.

[edit]
Thieves Like Us and Bizarre Love Triangle sucked donkey balls though and bits of Technique were a tad unambitious.

I don't like Joy Division either.
Just sounded like middle-of-the-road pop music to me, if I'm honest. I don't like Ian Curtis' vocals and that fucking 'same on every track' bass-playing drives me to distraction. Perhaps they should have also had an actual bass player, to fill out the bottom end*...

*not a euphemism

I have to go back to work now - see ya
