I'm not too sure about Predators. I wanted to see it on Tuesday becaus I was in the mood for watching people get skinned, but it wasn't out and now I'm feeling all fluffy again.
I watched Shrek 4, it was kind of lame.

I've seen bisected bellends, they make me cross my legs and whimper.

I know it is a film and stuff, and ridiculous things happen in films, but if you are planning on splicing together the DNA of two creatures, creating something that appears to be a human-sized, bipedal winged scorpion is surely not the most sensible thing to do.

there are levels of realism that films seem to aspire too. It can be shown best using the Die Hard films.
The premise of the first two and to a slightly lesser extent the 3rd film is fairly realistic, however the 4th one is shitty because of all the ridiculous computer/internet stuff.
Predators starts out with the concept of aliens and within that is perfectly acceptable.
Splice has some illegal genetic manipulation stuff, which is fine, but they seem to choose to use something stupid to do it, which is stupid.

patronising statement is patronising.

the above is about as well as I can or have managed to explain myself on the subject.

I always tell Wiggy off for saying that things were unrealistic. He picked holes in Up the other day, never mind the fact that the house is being supported by helium balloons and there are talking dogs.
I don't think Splice sounds that silly though, albeit I haven't seen it yet so it could be ridiculous.

it's only very rarely does something strike me as unrealistic within the context of a film. I'll happily accept most things, but occasionally there is something that is just daft.

I was angry all the way through Outbreak, they made so many mistakes in the opening five minutes alone.

I still love the show, but the second they touch a computer I get RAGEFACE.

All the science is bang on, and even the stuff that isn't feasible now could very well be in the near future.

And zoom in to impossible levels, then 'sharpen' the image to show a full HD perfect picture of the killer's face reflecting in the eyes of the victim.
ARRRGGGGHHHH!!

And anything that occurs in a forensics lab basically. And the magical DNA matching that works for absolutely anything.

and nearly found myself getting upset ONLINE at the blatant disregard for core Physics principles in the basic plot of the film.
Then I just M'd TFU and cracked another bottle of cider open

Bought another house to stop TGB taking a contract killing out on me, got a puppy ariving in a few weeks to join catface, and been driving lots of cars in hot places. I think that just about sums up everything.
B3ta's still completely blocked from work, but hats off to whoever invented working from home - b3ta on desktop and work VPN on laptop FTW...

I was reading the a feature on it in Empire where Stallone is talking about the day on set where himself, Mr Willis and Mr Schwarzenegger all have their scene together. Apparently Arnie turns up a little late with a huge cigar on the go. I reckon he would be one celebrity that would live up to your expectations if you met him.

What's it about? I only hear about the sci-fi/fantasy/horror films cos I'm a massive nerd and read SFX.

don't know what it's about, but it probably doesn't matter.

I can tell The Expendables is going to make me punch the air in the cinema and shout "YOOOORRRR!!!".

I saw a tv show about the custom car company who made the special truck for the Expendables. Worth it for that alone :-)

Sly Stallone, JCVD, Arnie, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Jason Statham and a hatful of others. It really is going to be truly awful or truly amazing. Splice looks good plus it makes me think of bioshock so cant be bad
(, Fri 9 Jul 2010, 11:07, Reply)
It sounds like it would be the kind of film I'd enjoy. But it could go either way.
