I understand it was a product of it's time and revolutionised some stuff etc etc, but it's spawned some awful sequels, far too much marketing and an awed attitude that is slightly bizarre

Star Wars is a bit mediocre. It'd be like me blathering endlessly about the artistic merit of Truffaut.

That said I've nothing against the films, just the people who think they're some form of art
