I don't know, but I suspect if it's just an edit to an existing articleIt can go unnoticed for long enough that a rumour can spread.
My friend's mistake was to write an entire biography of his friend, entitled, "[NAME], the Cross-Dressing Physicist."
You can see why it didn't get past the mods.
