I don't know what crook is
So I'll stay with the good news: Congratulations!! I'm very glad you got good results after all the *hard* work!
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 8:16, 1 reply, 16 years ago)
thank you!
Crook means unwell. I've caught the lurgy that's gone through my family.
An alternate meaning is to call someone "a crook" which is slang for a criminal.

Oh, I see
So you have your mum's cold now. Is it only a bad cold or coming into flu?

Just stay in bed all day today. Hot chicken soup. Hot milk with honey. Hot lemon juice with honey. You'll be fine in no time.

Mum's got whooping cough.
And now I'm getting all the same symptoms as her...really hoping it's just a bad cold though.

it's night time now. I'm taking the morning off school tomorrow though since I only have chem after lunch (can't miss that).

That sounds like a good plan
I wish I could have taken the morning off today. I'm tired.

Are you taking anything for the cold?
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 8:28, Reply)
can only take painkillers for the headaches and cough lollies.
can't take cold and flu tablets because they conflict with my medication.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 8:37, Reply)
Ouch
That's not very good. Well, hot drinks and honey should help. And plenty of vitamin c

Done, done, and done. :)
you'll be a good mummy one day Aberracion.

My dad had whooping cough in the 1940s
So he tells me. But I thought it had been pretty much eradicated these days. I'm fairly sure I've been vaccinated against it.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 8:57, Reply)
you can get it if you've not been immunised or if you've had it before.
Mum's a nurse so she works with people who haven't necessarily been vaccinated.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:04, Reply)
Yeah, I just assumed everyone had been immunised these days.
A wrong assumption, evidently!

Mind you, I had measles when I was 25, despite having had the jab when I was a kid. I don't recommend it. I've never been so ill in my life.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:05, Reply)
I caught chicken pox three years ago.
it was wretched.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:10, Reply)
Yup
Had that a couple of years after the measles! Nothing like as bad as the former though.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:12, Reply)
I actually got a few pretty big scars from it.
I have a raised pink weal on my left shoulder blade the size of an Aussie 5 cent coin.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:14, Reply)
Battle scars!
I've got one big one, but it's on my ribcage, under my left arm, so not really on show that much.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:22, Reply)
Oh, I hadn't realized
I thought you were using whooping as an adjective to mean a very bad cough. I didn't realize it was pertussis. Sorry about that! I hope you don't have it and you get better soon.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:06, Reply)
aha it's okay.
Hoping I don't have it, and that it's just a bad cold.
(, Tue 3 Aug 2010, 9:09, Reply)
You can get it if you have been immunised as well.
I was reading a thing about it the other day - if you had the jab as a kid then you shouldn't get it quite as bad, but you might still crack a rib from the coughing.
