Re: the connection fee
The Post Office use BT's lines and will connect you for far, far cheaper than BT will, plus there's only a one month tie-in. We've just used them to get our line reconnected, then promptly switched supplier to O2.

Good to know since BT want to charge me £150 to connect. Virgin will do it for £35, need to see what o2 are charging for it.
