After a lot of faffing and arguing, BT have agreed to release me from my contract early since they've messed me about during my home move - I still don't have internet other than on my phone. So I'm looking for somewhere that provides cheap, reliable unlimited usage broadband and a landline. I can get the landline from BT if necessary, but I'd have to pay a connection fee as there isn't a working line here, so I'd rather get it as a package if possible.

I know a lot of people who use Virgin and are happy but I have no details.
Don't use TalkTalk.

Internet was about £13 a month for 8Mb and unlimited usage, and you get a wireless router provided. They only cover the big cities, so I imagine that London will be included. Brilliant customer service, and useful at every turn.
o2 Broadband is meant to be pretty good too, and even cheaper than Be, and you get a discount if you have a mobile with them too. I think £7 or £8 a month for 8Mb and unlimited downloads.

The Post Office use BT's lines and will connect you for far, far cheaper than BT will, plus there's only a one month tie-in. We've just used them to get our line reconnected, then promptly switched supplier to O2.

Will (probably) be full of clever-types who can give you advice on the best way to argue your case so that you don't get charged anything.

With the 'best wireless connection ever' is one of the worst things I've ever seen. I can sit a few metres from it and not have a full signal.

is a cracking bird.
Mine doesn't have a full signal, but everything ia superquick so I don't care.

It was brilliant for broadband and mobile (had BT landline). Then moved only four miles up the road and Orange became utterly crap - different exchange or something. Now we're on Tiscali and they've been fine. I've kept Orange for my mobile though because I wanted an upgrade and threatened to leave - they gave me the upgrade. :)

at least according to my friend who got it free by threatening to go next door to the O2 shop
(, Wed 11 Aug 2010, 21:19, Reply)
I've found that the staff in the shops can be a bit hit and miss but the guys on the phone when you threaten to leave will offer their organs if it'll keep you.

I get words and pictures down a phone line, and it has the added bonus of being publicly owned. They seem pretty cheap and reliable to me.

Got Sky Broadband, with Sky Talk free, and because I have Sky TV, I get the Broadband free. Gets up to the heady heights of 5mb, which is cool, and is stable- which is extra cool, plus theres no AUP attched to it, download how much shit you like.

There was no line here and the connection cost to Virgin was something teeny.
Our internet is always stable and our TV pretty good.
We pay £50 a month for HD TV, phone and 20mg broadband. And I actually get 20mg (on a good day with a following wind, but never less than 16mg)
I've always been happy with them.

10mb broadband, phone line, tv. I pay £22 per month. The broadband has some traffic management but it does always run at full speed if you don't go over their limits. Had a few problems with them when they first took over NTL but they seem better now. I like all the iplayer & stuff on the tv box they give you.

I get unlimited broadband, line rental, and free calls to all 01 and 02 numbers for £30/month. Never had any problems at all.
