what kind of kit?
what colour?
did you buy special stands or keep them standard?

I love drum talk.

Mapex VXB in transparent sapphire
Got the standard Mapex double braced combo boom/straight cymbal stands. My hardware case weighs a ton. Got a free 8" tom and support thrown in too.

that sounds lovely
I had a mapex for a while I loved the floating tom set up. I have a sonor now for gigs (If we ever get any) and I play a 60's premier for shits and giggles.

I'm looking at getting my hands on
A Yamaha 18" natural wood finish bass at some point once I've got a job, as they give a great fusion sound for playing live. Need to get the job and money for it first though, as it's several things down the list of future purchases.

worst kit I ever owned was a yamaha
I just could not get it to sound how I wanted it. Whatever I did it had this horrible tinny ring to it after a hit. I ended up trying and changing everything before giving up and selling it on ebay.

we've got a pearl export kit for the band
it's a battered beast. Need to replace it really. Our drummer is currently equipping himself with a bunch of Paiste Signature and Sound edge cymbals, which are quite nice

I keep suggesting he gets a kit made entirely of different sized cowbells, but he's not going for it. I want a big bass kick-cowbell!

Pearl Exports aren't bad, a classic really
I briefly considered trying to make my own kit at one point, but now I'm finished uni getting my hands on the drills and clamps I'd need to would become rather expensive.

I would quite like to acquire
a Jalapeno kit one day when I can afford it.

it lives on the 3rd floor of a house
and frequently gets carried about in the van and to gigs and stuff, and as such is in poor shape. bit cracked, clamps missing etc.

poor thing.

Mine currently lives
In it's cases at the bottom of my bed, and stacked up on some shelves. It occasionally gets set up downstairs while my family are at work, but the living room's acoustics result in incredibly sore ears.

a case eh?
that might have helped our situation

fortunately its original owner, who kind of lent it to us long term has emigrated to Australia so is not aware of its fate/

Yeah, I actually decided to get cases
Added a bit to the cost, but keeps them safe. Also means I worry less when transporting them in the car.

I'm sure that when we get another kit we'll get cases
do you know anything about those kits that fit inside themselves?
(, Tue 17 Aug 2010, 16:37, Reply)
Can't say I do
I've never seen one, always thought they were kind of a good idea though. No idea how the skins are attached if they're quick and easy to remove.

well, if I find out then I will let you know
