In other news... I have been thinking about trying to run a supper club as mentioned a couple of weeks ago - thoughts?

what's a supper club?

(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:24, Reply)

(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:26, Reply)
do you serve coal and moles and holes?
they are the sort of things that are underground and rhyme
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:27, Reply)
Where?
As in what part of the country.
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:27, Reply)
That London

(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:28, Reply)
stupid London
it steals all the good things
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:28, Reply)
Good idea, where the with it people are.
What exactly does it involve?
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:29, Reply)

fixed menu. Limited number of people (I think we could seat 20 in our flat) promoted by word of mouth. Try it as a one-off evening & then maybe hold one once a month if it went well.
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:32, Reply)
It's got to be a winner.
I'd like to try it.
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:34, Reply)
I will gaz you once I have given it some more thought.

This could be the start
of a new form of next-level super-pimped-out elite B3ta bash.
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:41, Reply)
Just you and me and the fellow in Devon then.
I don't like Congnac, but I do like single malts. Is that OK?
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:47, Reply)
It certainly is. I love the malts.

(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:52, Reply)
mm single malts
I currently have a head cold, and last night my mother made me hot whisky using Laphroaig. Oddest taste ever
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:53, Reply)
Good work, mater.
I do like Laphroaig, but I've I could only have one malt for the rest of my life I'd go for the 15-year old Bowmore.

I am making a bottle of Oban last until September at the moment.
Just a tiny sip at 22:00
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:56, Reply)
Mmm I like Oban

(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:56, Reply)
I'm not a fan myself
I'll enjoy a cognac though. Or a good quality vodka if that sort of thing isn't frowned upon.
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:55, Reply)
XO Hennessy is my all-time favourite drink.
It's £100 a bottle though, so I only buy it every fourth bottle.

I've also had £12-a-shot rum and (honestly this exists) gourmet sipping tequila and was amazed how nice both of them were. I've had expensive vodkas but cannot get excited about it as a drink.
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:56, Reply)
I like the taste of vodka, simple as that
I've had a lovely thai whisky that was more like drinking chilled brandy. but nicer than that sounds.
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 18:06, Reply)
vodka when a decent brand
is fine straight. But if cheap it must be mixed
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 18:16, Reply)
who would you invite?
and why not just swap and swap about?
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:29, Reply)
You make it open to all but charge for the food (fixed menu published in advance). People bring their own booze.

(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:30, Reply)
I see
that makes sense
(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:30, Reply)
It's not one of your 'swingers' nights, you know.

(, Wed 18 Aug 2010, 17:31, Reply)
