mmmm, steak
I'm too poor for steak at the moment.

I will have to let the memory of the beef wellington I ate on my birthday keep me going until my mrs gets a payrise

Any further word on that payrise?

the wheels are in motion
they are having a bit of a local management reshuffle with a couple of people leaving, so her boss is moving up a level, the more experienced chartered engineer is moving up to be Mrs V's superior, and Mrs V will be the main project engineer. By the sounds of it they are going to see how much others at the same level are being paid in the company and should be bringing her pay up to that.

Wow, that's quite a boost!

yeah, she deserves it though.
She works bloody hard and was underpaid even before she was chartered.

She's currently on £6k less than I am and should really be on more than me (particularly given how much harder that me she works). we're hoping that they'll give her that extra £6k

Just a minute. Kitty O'Hara said she might soon be £400 better off,
and the very same day Vipros expresses the same.

My super powers of deduction* tell me something may be going on here.

*(Well that, and the fact that you both keep mentioning the possibility of something going on.)
