I can do it at a festival though for some reasonalthough we do have breaks of a couple of hours where we all stumble around complaining about how drunk we are, before sobering up a bit and continuing.

This is true.I've never once had a hangover at the festival either, even though I tend to drink shitty lager and warm cider and get very little sleep.
That might be the answer. Get drunk and spend the weekends sleeping in the garden.
