Either to be honest. I'm not really the addictive type
Alt Q: The sea. My mum's extended family all lived near Margate (I know, kill me now) and then I went to senior school just outside Margate. Actually the taste of oysters remind me exactly of searching rock pools as a kid.

I actually quite like margate.
I've only been there for about an hour though.

It used to be fun - tacky but fun
Now it's just sad. Everywhere has closed down and gone to a big out of town shopping centre. The only people who live there now are those who can't afford to go elsewhere. Apparently it's one of the most deprived towns in the UK - despite being in the 'rich' Southeast. The funfair was burnt down too.

Yeah I had a pack of matches when I went there for an hour.

Mine is the sea
and wet sails and rope mainly. I did a lot of sailing as young boy. We have a house in Ireland and I still sail when I can.

Does the smell of servants and inherited titles also remind you of childhood?

It's the smell of polo mallets
and the sound of birch hitting bottoms.

awesome
I'm planning to learn how to sail when I get back from Tenerife

It's really good fun
And can be a good work out if the wind gets up. Plus you're dicking about in water which is always fun. Plus you and Wiggy can do it together.

I think you'll find that we are going to sail to the Caribbean on a yacht called the Smug Croissant

(, Wed 8 Sep 2010, 14:50, Reply)
Won't it be really soggy when you get there?

(, Wed 8 Sep 2010, 14:53, Reply)

I know it was tenuous
but made me chuckle

My father used to have a boat.
He nearly drowned my sister in it, once. How we 'lolled'...
