I was obligated to play the violin
and I always wanted to play the cello.

I had to learn the trombone at school I swapped it for guitar at 13 then realised I couldn't do that
so tried the drums and was at home. I really wish I could learn the violin though, I love strings.

I heard you tromboned regularly at school.

I'm not sure how to phonetically write a trombone noise in a sarcastic manner so I shall let you have this round.

I think it's called a descending chromatic wah.
Or that might be one of the many names used by Pete Wylie's old band.

you know, I do believe you are right

I wanted to play the cello.
But I never really got to the second instrument stage. Plus I'm not a big fan of stringed bowed instruments.

I would like to play the bassoon. Or the Eigenharp.

I have grade IV clarinet.
I hate the clarinet. It's shit.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:31, Reply)
But good for lighting oboe fires with.

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:31, Reply)
I had failed to appreciate that fact.

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:32, Reply)
I'm pretty pissed
that I spent £25 on my Grade VIII book and will fail to get it this exam season. Will have to spend another £25 and then however much the exam is (around £100) when I finally want to take it.

I will complete D.eme Arabesque at some point though.

I'd be a bit curious to know what grade I might be on the guitar

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:40, Reply)
I am 'weapons' grade.

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:43, Reply)

I don't know how much faith I have in grades
I may be 7/8 but I'm not performance standard, and I cannot play much. I also cannot sightread to save my life (though I passed grade 7 sightreading. Having failed all but 1 before...)
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:44, Reply)
I can't read proper music any more
but I can sightread tab like a motherfucker.

have got a good ear these days too, so much so that it surprises me sometimes
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 14:05, Reply)
Pissed OFF, you mean.
or have you been at the cooking sherry again?
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:47, Reply)
Your Grade 13 book?
Have they magically introduced five extra grades since I took my grade 8 then?
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:47, Reply)
Fuck, the classicist just failed.

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:48, Reply)
What do you play?

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:49, Reply)
Piano
Like every other middle class privately-educated girl.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:52, Reply)
I gave that up after Grade 4 and learnt to play the saxophone instead.

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:54, Reply)
My sister was hardcore and played both
she was excellent at the saxophone.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 13:55, Reply)
