Tracks like Mr Brightside still get me up and out about on nights out, cracking tunes.
In terms of Kaiser Chiefs, I reckon you'd want either 'Ruby'(ugh, wank track) or 'I Predict A Riot'
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:00, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
Tragically I think I have a copy of I Predict a Riot somewhere
Am not playing Ruby. On pain of death.

I have to concede the point regarding Mr Brightside, although Somebody Told Me is their best track to my mind

Not playing fucking Sex On Fire either
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:11, Reply)
wooooooooooooooooaaaah
you're sexy on fire.

should be the lyrics and the plot for the video
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:12, Reply)
Good man on the Ruby thing
That track is wank
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:14, Reply)
most songs that are named after a woman's name are
see: Layla, Lola, Maria, any number of songs called Caroline
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:17, Reply)
Lola is alright

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:18, Reply)
it's not really though
it's cheesy and shit
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:19, Reply)
oddly sweet though

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:21, Reply)
Mildly disturbing I feel

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:22, Reply)
Even 'Caroline, No'?

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:18, Reply)
there are a few songs called Caroline that are good
Concrete Blonde have one, and the Quo, naturally.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:19, Reply)
Also see 'Alice' by Tom Waits
(I'm just going to keep looking for exceptions until you retract your original point)

Edit: + 'Sally Simpson' and 'Mary Anne with the Shaky Hand' by The Who
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:22, Reply)
I was more going for songs that are just one woman's name
where it is repeated ad nauseum in the song, like in Ruby.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:24, Reply)
Oh Mandy, you came and something something else, repeat ad infinitum

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:25, Reply)

something something else I haven't been able to get that stain out of the bedclothes since
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:27, Reply)
Granted, Ruby is annoying.
And 'Maria' was just one of those comeback singles that should just never have been released.

(Though I quite like The Kinks' 'Lola')
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:26, Reply)
I think I may actually have been thinking of a different song instead of Lola
I don't know what it is though.

I can picture the idiot face of the singer in the video...
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:27, Reply)
Oh Mandy by The Spinto Band is pretty good

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:34, Reply)
Suzanne by Leonard Cohen

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:25, Reply)
Suzanne by Weezer

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:32, Reply)
Delilah by Tom Jones
Top song. More so if you listen closely to the lyrics
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:35, Reply)
play lots of Weezer am just reminiscing on how ace they are.

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:35, Reply)
I used to love Weezer, listened to them a lot at a defining time in my life
now they annoy me.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:36, Reply)
I had that and have come through the other side again.

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:38, Reply)
Their new on 'Hurley' is fucking awful.

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:39, Reply)
Not heard it yet.
Will investigate later.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:40, Reply)
I find they're a bit like Goldfrapp
Not stylistically, obviously, but in the way that they made two good albums and then just seemed to tail off into repetitive mediocrity.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:41, Reply)
What about 'Oh Carolina?'
Also 'Kyrie' isn't too bad.

Also, '(Living Next Door To) Alice' the original is pretty good, Chubby Brown ruins it.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:21, Reply)
I did say 'most'

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:22, Reply)
Aye, fair enough!
Question, are you into your (I think it's called) Post rock? Stuff like Tool, but without the weirdness I suppose.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:23, Reply)
I probably am
give me some examples of bands. The genre doesn't mean a lot to me!
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:25, Reply)
Me either
Tis just the way they were described to me. Bands are Pelican, Beecher, Red Sparrows, and Between The Buried And Me?

The band I mean is called Mountains Became Machines, should be on Last.Fm
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:32, Reply)
fair enough
don't recognise any of the names. Only thing I can think of that I like that may be similar are 65daysofstatic

There's another band that my drummer is into as well, but can't remember their name.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:35, Reply)
65daysofstatic are alright

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:36, Reply)
Well, if you get 10 free minutes, or can just stick your headphones in with these in the background
This is a superb tune
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:37, Reply)
I'll have to check them out later on
after work
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:41, Reply)
Judith (APC)
Elsie (Zombie Girl cover)
Shirly Lou (Seasick Steve)
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:38, Reply)
How did I not think of Judith?!
While we're on the subject, Magdalena is an awesome tune

As is "fuckmachine" by Combichrist. Surely we all know a girl called that...
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:47, Reply)
Magdalenas
Are also small spongey Spanish cupcakes. Sometimes with jam inside.
I like to think he's singing about them.
(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:49, Reply)
Nothing would surprise me when it comes to MJK

(, Tue 21 Sep 2010, 14:58, Reply)
