Oh those pub quizzes
Trouble is, they're always set by some social misfit with an unhealthy obsession for an obscure subject.

We once went to one where the fat, panting quizmaster had set a picture round of sci-fi film characters.

damn
that would be one I'd be OK at. Ours are all about rivers and old films and football

our specialist subjects mostly revolve around sci fi, english lit, computers and the happenings in fantasy worlds

English Lit I can do
I suppose if we ever found a quiz where the quizmaster was obsessed with American Political History 1880-1930 I'd do quite well.

You wanted a mid-week B3ta bash in York, yes?
Come and do the pub quiz.
(, Thu 23 Sep 2010, 19:23, Reply)
Right.
What night, where, and what time does it finish?

Do you need a specialist on American Political History 1880-1930, or just someone who knows Jello Biafra's real name?

Wednesdays, Holgate, closing time.
I want as many B3tans as possible onboard.
(, Thu 23 Sep 2010, 19:30, Reply)
I know where Holgate is
A specific pub? Last orders isn't helpful because it misses the last train back to Chavford.

The Fox. About 20 minutes from the station by foot if you go via the alley to St Pauls

(, Thu 23 Sep 2010, 19:38, Reply)
Just checked
Last train back is 22.09.

A brave effort, but I'm not equal to the challenge.

Sorry chief!
I drive for a living so I tend to avoid driving when I'm off duty.

There are pet care issues which preclude me staying in York.

And I don't think La TD would appreciate driving me to York for a pub quiz.

If you can find something more central with an earlier finish I'm all ears.
(, Thu 23 Sep 2010, 20:05, Reply)
Maybe.
Just the Fox is my local, and Wednesday quiz night is a tradition.

Pubs in the centre are shit for quizzes.

As in most cities
I wonder if there's a boozer in Leeds that does a quiz? Yes, there is, obviously, but I only know the Northern suburbs.

Maybe a central Leeds pub quiz. Easy for trains.

Possibly old bean
I do think it would be marvellous to have a B3tan pub quiz team in full effect.
(, Thu 23 Sep 2010, 20:20, Reply)
I'll reserve judgement until it happens
But if we can make it happen somewhere in West/North Yorkshire count me in.

To revert to an earlier post - Jello Biafra's real name? Without looking it up?
(, Thu 23 Sep 2010, 20:37, Reply)
Can't remember.

Eric Reed Boucher
Holiday in Cambodia was on 6 Music this morning and that set me up for the day. One of my top ten.

It helps that his middle name is my surname.
