except she's from the generation of shorthand so it just doesn't make sense. She shortens things by putting an apostrophe in, for example: the word something would be s'thg and Manchester is M'cr. You might think they're quite obvious but if the whole text is filled with them it makes your eyes bleed.

Politics and psychology methinks. So I suppose it doesn't really matter, but if even the teacher can't spell correctly then it doesn't really help the students.

My Year 9 English teacher made threats to the class at large with regard to "could/would/should* of". I could never quite comprehend why people had such difficulty.
