this is what bugs me when people argue that I'm pronouncing bath incorrectly
because I'm southern and their argument is that it doesn't have an R in it so it's a short a, but the English language doesn't seem to have many set rules on pronunciation so it makes their argument invalid. Common northern twarts.

it's because they can't understand something that has rules but doesn't abide by them all the time
they are more like guidelines.
