Not sure. The gf likes a particular style of jewellery (Carbuchon or something??) and I don't know what something nice in that style will cost. Think it will be best to get it made at Hatton Garden - good value there apparently
I don't pay myself a great deal - most of the profit we make is being re-invested in the company to fund expansion so I am waiting to pay myself a dividend (tax efficient).

Go on a fact-finding trip to South Africa
You'll get the diamonds for pennies over there.

I would love to go to S.A. I have the airmiles to do so - just haven't got the time. I like the idea of having something made from blood diamonds.

I wonder if your ex colleague
Would spend the grand on 'a replacement laptop'?
(, Mon 11 Oct 2010, 19:43, Reply)
He could get one with a windscreen wiper for that money which he probably needs giving the amount of wanking he must have been doing

Your girlfriend has taste.
It's basically polished stones instead of faceted ones. She's not about the bling she's about the ethnicity.

I need female help with this once I have the cash together - I have a female mate who can help but she has v expensive ideas

(, Mon 11 Oct 2010, 19:43, Reply)
If you want to email or gaz me ideas then I would be more than happy to help.
Sending me a pic of her would also help. I could get a rough idea from how she looks. Women have special skillz at judging other women. *laughs*

Brilliant. Thank you. Once I have some dosh I will definitely do that. She is quite posh (old Edinburgh establishment family)

(, Mon 11 Oct 2010, 19:47, Reply)
Yes but I get the idea she's more of the eccentric posh than the stuffy posh.

(, Mon 11 Oct 2010, 19:49, Reply)
Correct!

There you go.
You should also be able to judge what she likes by the jewellery you've already seen her in. Fine or chunky. Silver or gold. Bright or earthy colours etc.
(, Mon 11 Oct 2010, 19:57, Reply)

I know she likes gold but not white gold or platinum. She makes her own necklaces (she's done a few courses on that). She wears earthy colours - never black - as she's a redhead and so pale skinned.

Well get looking and show me what you find.
If you google cabachon then you'll get a few ideas too.

Don't look at me. I'm cheeeeeap.
I don't like diamonds. I like pearls.
I'd have her in Lizzy Duke sterling silver specials.
(, Mon 11 Oct 2010, 19:45, Reply)
I am not particularly superstitious but I have heard that pearls are unlucky?

(, Mon 11 Oct 2010, 19:46, Reply)
There's an old saying 'pearls for tears'.
But according to other sources they symbolise purity, wisdom and true love.
I have found them to be elegant and lucky so far.
When I moved from fake ones to real ones, conicidentally or not, I got tired of superficial people and found a lot more genuine ones.

I like pearls.
If I didn't have great big streched lobes then I would have got some nice real beauties.
