that cake in the picture you commented on was one of my rainbow cakes, it has rainbow colours all through it. And I made my own cupcake up as well with no recipe, you'd be so proud.

They just don't, it's weird
Although they did swirl up a bit through the centre this time, I think I need to use less baking powder. Normally I can get them in proper stripes, so I need to work with the recipe a bit to get that again.

It takes ages to do though because you have to make your 6 colours of cake mix first and then layer it in the case, which is a ball ache. I'm going to experiment with using a biscuit-icing syringe thing in the hope that I can just fire perfect disc shapes into the case without any hassle.
