I'm telling you, I think they're dicking me around. You know they charge $40 to swab her ear and look at it under a microscope?
Then the asshole got smart with me because he asked how her stomach was from the last time I was there, I told him I called the pet store and they suggested to change her food, the vet said "ya know, I just want to ask, where did they go to school? they're just trying to sell food" I wanted to say WELL IT FUCKING WORKED ASSHOLE. I didn't have to spend a hundred dollars there to figure out she's fucking fine.

Is there a professional body you can complain to?

nah, guess that's just the way it's going to be
I'm lucky I don't have a kid, they're in and out of the doctors all the time

You need to live a country that doesn't charge for healthcare!

ffs, the amount I've spent on vet bills alone so far covers my passport and a quarter of the flight and hotel price to london

Granted, we have no national health service for pets here
But the insurance isn't that expensive and the excess you pay is usually no more than fifty-quid, making poorly-pets affordable! (It also means people rescuing older animals who might have health problems are still motivated to do so).
