It's based in the Ozark mountains in Missouri
and tells the tale of a closed hick society, all related in some way.

One girl's father has vanished, is due in court and has the family shack as bond. THe film follows her trying to find him and save her home.

Really sparsely shot, and two marvellous performances from the leads - Ree and Teardrop.

oh yeah I've seen a really long trailer for that in the cinema
it looked good but pretty long and a bit depressing.

It's an hour and forty.
I'm not much of a movie fan - I get bored quickly (I prefer reading to watching).

It's a month or more since I saw Winter's Bone and since then I've thought about it daily, got really interested in it and read the book.

It's a brilliant piece of work, and it leaves you thinking of what happens after.

Bleak, but there are rays of hope in it.
