I'm pretty sure Southerners aren't renowned for their roast dinners.

No, but I learnt from a Northerner.
Well, an East Midlander, but he spent a few years in Manchester, so I'm sure the correct information filtered through somehow.

as far as I'm aware Northerners aren't either
and they have warped ideas about gravy.
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 14:47, Reply)
You mean having it with chips?

(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 14:52, Reply)
Obviously the information has filtered through
Because despite being terribly, terribly Southern I do believe chips and gravy to be an excellent combination.

Chips and gravy is magnificent
Had it with sausage from the chippy last night.

Short of adding "whilst taking t' whippet for a walk"
you couldn't have made that sound much more Northern.

WHIPPETS ARE FANTASTIC PETS

(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 14:58, Reply)
I didn't say they weren't.
I've always liked dogs, I just don't think I'd have the patience to own one.
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 14:59, Reply)
Typical self absorbed southerner. Too busy drinking "lager tops" I shouldn't wonder.

LAGER?
*splutters*
LAGER?
Of all the cheek! I shall...I shall...oh, the nerve of the man! Mark my words, you shall be hearing from me in writing!
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 15:05, Reply)
Lager is lovely
As is Ale.
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 15:07, Reply)
Are there any nice foodstuffs/drinks you like?
You'll be telling me next you like Bovril.
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 15:09, Reply)
Never had it
What's wrong with Lager and/or ale?
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 15:11, Reply)
Bleurgh

(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 15:12, Reply)
What do you drink?

(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 15:19, Reply)
I don't like the thin southern gravy, it's horrible.
You shouldn't be able to see through gravy.
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 14:57, Reply)
I concur
And yet past flatmates have always chided me for throwing cornflour into it. (edit: Yes, I know it solidified into a slab towards the end of the meal, but that's just because the buggers didn't eat it fast enough)
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 14:59, Reply)
I once made sweet and sour chicken from scratch
and I put too much cornflour in it because by the time we were half way through the meal it had kind of turned into a chicken jelly.
(, Tue 2 Nov 2010, 15:15, Reply)
I have never made thin gravy in my life
gravy is one of my specialities
