Anybody else think Sonic Youth to be massively overrated?
I have tried to love them but just don't.

I saw Sonic Youth in Dublin many years ago.

I like the albums Dirty and Daydream Nation.
That's about all I know of their canon.

Oh and they do an interesting cover of the Carpenters song 'Superstar'

Daydream Nation I like
But I just think they are overrated. They aren't bad, just not...that great. Amirite?

I don't know enough of their stuff to judge.
All bands that have been on the go for yonks have one or two duff albums. That said I put Dirty on for the first time in about a decade last month and it still sounds fresh.

Pink Steam was great.
A lot of my beef with them is the vocals. Just terrible really. Having said that, I do love Dinosaur Jr though.

Yeah you don't look to them for soaring vocals.
But you can forgive crap singing for great songs.
The guy in the Walkmen has an extraordinary voice.

will look for them on eMusic.

Edit: Ooh, "Fiercely sensitive epic rock from New York's wet sidewalks"

Fiercely sensitive?!
Odd description. I've only listened to a few of their songs but I think I'll give them a go. Nothing else has really grabbed me of late.

Have you tried KRS One?
