to her work drinks at one of her colleague's houses. I don't even particularly want to go to work drinks with my own colleagues, or for drinks with my extended family, come to that.

office works do's are usually rubbish
you have to spend all day with your cow orkers, why spend more time with them? On the other hand I work with cool people and am actually looking forward to a party with them in a couple of weeks time

it's fun to watch people that are normally so uptight to let loose
if they get drunk enough one of them might take their top off!
