I visited while backpackingit was completely empty everywhere until we found a big street party and the river full of plastic ducks
was only there for a couple of days, though

Exactly that kind of oddness is what I like about the place.There are loads of warehouses and churches in which people can set up odd art installations or bars or nightclubs. It's a relatively cheap place to live too.
