But weren't you saying last week that the working conditions and employment laws in Spain were pretty lousy compared to the UK? Or is Madrid better than the rest of the country for that?
Chile would be cool though - I was partly duped into taking this PhD on the promise of fieldwork in Chile which never happened.

The conditions won't be as good as the ones in London, but still really good for Spain. This is a multinational company hiring people from all over the world, so they need to offer good working conditions. They expect me to do quite a lot more than 80h overtime per year (that's the maximum allowed by Spanish laws), so they won't be able to "pay" for them. However, you get a bonus cheque at the end of the job, for doing the extra mile.
I'd rather go to Chile, though. It'll be probably the last adventure before maternity and family life take over.

I can't promisse I could take holidays for all of you, but I'd make sure you were busy and happy over there.

I could occupy myself during the day. It's always nicer to visit a place where you know someone. Especially if you're travelling on your own.

whilst I was there, I'm pretty sure it's a lot easier than German or French!

that there's someone there, just in case. I'm getting too excited about it, and I shouldn't.
