The bottom of the hillin my case is a long way away, as I try to explain to my co-workers, 1 in 4 hills don't tend to appear in the middle of wide, flat plains.

I live in a valley but luckily the main road runs right in front of my house and is well gritted.It's just the small off roads that are problematic.
