softened that in a pan with some olive oil. Added some coarsely chopped mushrooms, some veg stock, some white wine, some smoothly blended chopped tomatoes, a reasonable quantity of hot smoked paprika, and some tomato puree.
Simmered for a while then added the meatballs (without browning first because they were pretty small), cooked that for about 20 minutes to reduce.
Then I decided that the sauce wasn't quite right so sampled a bit with a variety of herbs before discovering that sage goes really well with smoked paprika.
